Imagine if we raise the flag and honor those who died for our freedom, everyday, not just on Memorial Day! Wow, what a ceremony. I’m glad I said yes to giving the keynote at this historic cemetery on Memorial Day. Here’s a little of what I expressed:
“We must continue to gather, tell the stories of these courageous servants of freedom, and honor their valor, the courage of women and men who died in combat as well as the selfless service of those who are in the military supporting our Nation in peacetime.
We must raise up their memory, like the flag, unfurl it high in the air in their honor, fly the flag proudly from your porch, from your flagpole or hold it up high in your hand.
This is our responsibility as citizens of the United States of America to remember, to never forget our Nation’s brave men and women whether they died on foreign soil in the battle or serving in the uniform for our great country. Their service and sacrifice to America is the greatest gift of all.
I am grateful to be here with you and part of this beautiful ceremony on this, a very special day in this lovely place.
God bless those who are deployed to harm’s way, to those who stand the watch, to those who have served, giving us this beautiful day of remembrance so that we may walk freely and live in freedom and in peace. God Bless each of you, God Bless our veterans and may God bless the United States of America!”
